The majority of companies listed on the Swiss stock exchange currently use International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Since January 1, 2005, all companies listed on an EU exchange have been obliged to draw up their balance sheets in accordance with IFRS. However, even mid-sized companies who are not listed on any stock exchange but are looking for investors, require credit or work with international corporate groups are coming under pressure to change over to IFRS.

The new Audit Supervision Act came into force on January 1, 2008, and the Federal Council published its proposal for a further far-reaching revision of the legislation relating to equities and accounting on December 21, 2007. In this seminar we normally focus on court rulings that affect statutory auditors, and case examples of auditors’ statements on overindebtedness.
